This site is named used air compressor shop but
there is also lot of information about new air compressors here too.
We have taken the time to research exactly what most people are searching for when it
comes to air compressors. As it turns out, a lot of people are searching for the term used air compressor but there
are lots of people looking for information of specific brands of air compressors too.
We have a specific page on the site for each type or brand of air compressor that is
searched for most often. I know there are some models that you think should be included and if that's the case,
just drop us a note and we will be glad to look into adding any other type of information you want.
We get questions asking why Dewalt is not a page for itself. The answer is that the
Emglo air compressor line is really the portable air compressor line by
Dewalt.
For other brands (and there are lots and lots of them), we just had to draw the line
somewhere. You may or may not be familiar with all the brands shown. For example, if you are not a fairly large
commercial user you may have never heard of Quincy air compressors. If you
are a large user then you know them really well.
Not all manufacturers make all types of compressors. Some make only electric and
others make both electric and gas powered air compressors. The
product lines vary from company to company too. From a shear number of compressors in their product line, the
Speedaire air compressor line is the most extensive. At the time of
writing this article, they had 73 different models of air compressors in their line.
Of course some brands cater to the 'bread and butter' compressors. That means they don't
have a lot of models but the models they do make are the most popular types and sizes bought throughout the
industry.
There a lot of decisions you have to make when it comes to buying an air compressor. Used
air compressor or new air compressor? You will need to know how much capacity (CFM's) you need from the compressor
and how much pressure you need too (psi's). Always factor a little bit of loss into your calculations too. Small
air leaks on lines and couplings plus the pressure drop through the air line too. We always suggest that you buy a
air compressor at least slightly larger with more capacity than you think you will need. Too much power is not a
problem but too little power can really slow a crew down on a job.
All air compressors are noisy, even the so called quiet air compressors, so be aware of the noise level and always follow proper
safety precautions with all air compressors. Better to be safe than sorry.
Buying a used air compressor may save you a lot of money.
